Therapy for Therapists

Sometimes the qualities that make us exceptional caregivers are the same ones we developed because we once had to be.

You’ve spent a long time being the one who holds things together.

Maybe long before you ever became a therapist.

You may have been the mature one. The responsible one. The peacemaker. The good friend. The child who noticed what everyone else needed. The one who learned how to read the room, anticipate emotions, keep the peace, or take care of people around you.

Those qualities may be part of what eventually made you a really good therapist.

But they may not have started there.

Sometimes, our greatest strengths were built from adaptations we needed much earlier in life.

And eventually, being the person who can hold everyone else can become exhausting when you don’t know how to stop holding.

A place where someone else gets to care for you.

When you spend your professional life holding space for other people, it can be difficult to notice how rarely you allow yourself to be fully held.

Here, you don’t have to be the clinician.

You don’t have to understand everyone else’s perspective.

You don’t have to make sense of your emotions before bringing them into the room.

You don’t have to carry the emotional weight for everyone around you.

This is a space where your needs get to matter, too.

Together, we can care for the parts of you that learned they had to be responsible, helpful, easy, mature, or emotionally available in order to stay connected.

My approach

I’ve worked in the mental health field for more than 15 years and have been a therapist for 13.

I pull from a variety of therapeutic models, but my work is primarily focused on inner child healing using parts-based, attachment-based, and somatic interventions.

My hope is to help you move beyond understanding your patterns and actually heal the parts of you that learned to survive through caregiving, over-responsibility, and putting yourself last.

If that’s the kind of work you’re looking for, I’d love to work with you. You can find more about my work, fees, and FAQ here.
